Transformation: Starts with STOP!
In a world gone heady with materialism, we need to STOP! and focus on how to become nnipa ampa, a truly humane-being. And yet one wonders if this is even possible, as we rush from economic pillar to social post in the name of progress, plus at the expense of who we can be without so much acquisition.
Let me try to be clearer, through personal anecdote.
Since as far back as I can recall, I’ve been a studious and hardworking individual, who diligently learnt to play the game of get well-qualified and find a good job to do, until retirement.
I did this by studying for six years to be an architect, after spending the proverbial thirteen years in primary and secondary school. My architectural education was also followed by eight years of doctoral study in the field of education.
All these years of almost becoming an eternal student were also entangled with continuous (often casual, thus, precarious) employment, as I’ve supported myself through school since age nineteen.
I worked, not only because it was the only way to sustain myself through half a lifetime of schooling, but also because it was the sensible thing to do — to get work experience, while I studied, so as to ensure future employability.
